Chiropractic aids female fertility

Written By Worthington Wellness Center on May 2, 2024

Chiropractic care has been gaining attention as a potential aid for fertility. This alternative form of medicine focuses on the alignment of the spine and its effect on the nervous system. The nervous system is responsible for controlling all bodily functions, including reproductive functions. When the spine is misaligned, it can disrupt the communication between the brain and the reproductive organs, leading to hormonal imbalances and decreased fertility. If we look at this as a direct relationship of female anatomy the Uterus and ovaries are primarily controlled the by the T10-L1 spinal regions.  Thus, we would want to correct misalignments in this region to aid neurologic control of these organs.   Furthermore, we would want blood supply/nutrient to the uterus and ovaries to be optimal.  This area is controlled by obturator nerve root which originates from spinal segments L2-L4. Additionally, chiropractic care can help alleviate stress and tension in the body, which can have a negative impact on fertility. By reducing stress and promoting relaxation, the body is better able to regulate its functions and create a more optimal environment for conception. Chiropractors also typically take a holistic approach to health, addressing not only physical issues but also emotional and nutritional factors that may be contributing to fertility problems. We may recommend dietary changes, supplements, and stress-reducing techniques to support the body's reproductive system. Some studies have shown that women who receive regular chiropractic care have a higher success rate with fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
